About heavy equipment operating in Canada

Heavy equipment operators run excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, mobile cranes, and other large machinery used in construction, mining, forestry, and infrastructure. Crane operators in particular hold high-value provincial certifications.

Most work is project-based. Travel pay and per diem are common for distant sites. Mobile crane work requires a provincial Hoisting Engineer licence with significant earning potential, especially for oilsands and industrial sites.
