Frequently asked questions.

The short answers, organized by who's asking.

For workers

Where does WrkCrew operate?+

WrkCrew is live across Alberta and Saskatchewan in 2026, with national Canadian expansion underway. If you're a worker or employer outside AB/SK, you can join the waitlist and we'll notify you when we're live in your market.

Is WrkCrew really free for workers?+

Yes. Always. Profiles, credential verification, job applications, messaging with employers, all free, forever. Employers pay subscriptions; workers don't pay anything.

What do you mean by “verified credentials”?+

We confirm your Red Seal, journeyman certificate, trade tickets (CWB welding, Working at Heights, WHMIS, fall arrest, etc.) directly with the issuing body. You upload once, we verify, and you carry a Verified badge to every application after.

How long does verification take?+

About 48 hours for most credentials. Some niche tickets take longer. We'll notify you by SMS when verification completes.

Do I need a resume?+

No. Your structured profile is your resume. We auto-generate a clean PDF version if any employer needs one.

Why do I need to record a voice intro?+

It's optional, but employers love it. 30 seconds of you telling them who you are, what you do, and what you're looking for. Way better than a written cover letter, and a lot faster to record than to type.

Will my current employer see my profile?+

You can hide your profile from specific employers in your settings. You can also set your profile to “passive” mode so only jobs that explicitly match your criteria see you.

For employers

How is WrkCrew different from Indeed?+

Three big differences: we verify worker credentials with issuing bodies, we require pay transparency on every post, and we're built around trades specifically. Indeed is a generalist platform; we're a trades-specialist platform.

What is the 40% pay spread rule?+

WrkCrew blocks job postings where the pay range spans more than 40% of the midpoint. For example, "$40-$56/hr" is fine (33% spread), but "$25-$65/hr" would be rejected as too wide to be meaningful. Wide ranges are just hidden pay in disguise.

Why do you require pay disclosure?+

Because hiding pay wastes everyone's time. Workers filter themselves into roles that match their expectations, you get higher-quality applicants, and we both avoid the back-and-forth dance of “what are you looking for?”

What does the verified employer badge mean?+

It means we've confirmed your business registration, WSIB/WCB status, and insurance. Workers see this badge and know you're a real, compliant employer, not a fake recruiter or pyramid scheme.

What if I have a custom ATS like Greenhouse or Workable?+

Enterprise plans include ATS integration. Candidates apply on WrkCrew, with their verified profile, and the application data flows into your ATS automatically.

Can I post jobs in trades you don't cover yet?+

Reach out. We're actively expanding the trades we support. If we don't cover yours yet, your feedback will help us decide what to add next.
